Sunset Hills in Paradise Valley
At the entrance of Sunset Hills is inconspicuous: it's a small fence built of local rocks stuck together with cement and and old white sign with the neighborhoods name, the whole thing somewhat overgrown with weeds. That sign something of a characteristic of Paradise Valley as a whole beckoning to the good ol' western carefree do it yourself way of life: the wild west with a twist.
Behind the rough facade are anything from older ranch homes, modern marvels to exceptional estates.
In the case of Sunset Hills the roads wind their way up the hillsides up towards the peaks of the Phoenix Mountains, and it's not hard to see the magnificent homes perched up high with their structures peaking out to catch the best views, the rolling breeze down the hillside and in the evening the light reflecting from the warm mountains bathed in the sunset.
The name, if you noticed, is a bit misleading: the enclave faces east. It would be more aptly named as sunrise hills.
This is not a gated community though individual homes are gated in many cases.
Prices range from the low one million plus and go up from there. Of course age, location and views have much to do with the price. The photo on the right is has a few examples of the homes you will see in Sunset Hills.
