On the east side of the freeway there are enclaves of custom homes right along the border with the preserve, Heritage Heights a community from the 1970's with homes closer to the street and a community pool and tennis court.

On the interior of the preserve there you truly don't feel the city surrounding you: still in central Phoenix, but also in the middle of now where.
