A cycling trip to the newly opened Giant Coffee near the Phoenix Art Museum

Giant Coffee just opened recently and I've had several chances to have some coffee there and lounge around: once by car and twice by bike.

I like the bike part better because it just feels right to ride up to this modern contemporary building lay the bike against the wall along the the many others and walk into the fully opened front while fuses the interior and exterior space together.

It's the openness and fairly nice interior that make this place quite pleasant to be in: it's got the looks and feel of a truly great place: add to that friendly service and good, not great, coffee.  The coffee could be better, but it's acceptable especially when pair together with Strauss milk rather then any other stuff: milk like this in a latte makes a difference.

There is so much room inside that this would make a great place for a meeting, social or business, but there are a few things in the way of greatness: the small stuff is negligible, but the music, at least the times I was there was horrid: wining men singing about lost love or some jittery scratch that's more a nuisance then anything else.  Music should not dominate a space: it's needs to complement the atmosphere.

Giant Coffee is also located along the a small urban park with adds to the wonderful atmosphere.  On the last trip there were people sitting on the edge of the stairs in the open entry in between the modern interior and the lush desert trees and plants of the park, just sitting, relaxing and occasionally exchanging words and sipping a coffee, while the bicycles lay in wait for the return home.
