The Life and Real Estate In Review

This week as every week has been interesting. There has never been a time when we did not live in interesting times. We have news and information from around the world accessible immediately. It's quite extraordinary yet overwhelming. It's good to have access to it, but do we need it, do we have to be tuned in all the time? There was an interesting show on this over the weekend on NPR's Talk of the Nation.

It's the same in real estate. The information is available to all buyers and sellers: you don't need Realtors for the information, you don't really need them to find the homes, but we are here to help disseminate the information to put it together for clients to help you make sense of it, to make a decision on the right information.

And speaking of real estate.

Wow, if you have not seen these incredible dams and levies surrounding the homes and protecting  them from the spilling Mississippi River then you must: they or at least the photos are awesome.

The owners of these homes will have other things to worry about than the economy, but we are worried about the mixed signals. Sevgi Serpil Atalay & Lee McPheters ask, 'Has The Recovery Lost Mementum?"

"Although the Q1 advance marked the seventh straight quarterly gain in GDP, the 1.8 percent increase was the smallest since Q2 of last year. With the exception of the final two quarters of 2009, the recovery has not brought two consecutive quarters of growth above 3 percent."

We just listed another home in Three Fountains in Arcadia, after selling 2 other units in the last few months. Three Fountains is that quirky and very modern complex at the very popular Campbell and 40th Street intersection which is so bustling with activity.

And lastly Leo Babauta of Zen Habits talks about 'The Myth of Discipline

"It’s all a myth.

I’m hoping that if you accept that it’s a myth, you’ll be released from the guilt of not being disciplined, you’ll be empowered to create the habits you want without the need of the mythical discipline."
