Ashland Place Historic District

Ashland Place was added in 1994 to the historic register. It's bound by Central Ave, Vernon Ave, 3rd Street and Oak with Alvarado Historic Neighborhood on the south. It is near the Encanto/Central Metro Light Rail Station, well within walking distance.

This is midtown Phoenix: the neighborhood is surrounded by mid and high-rises. It's an urban atmosphere with plenty of things to do and walking access to the metro Light Rail.

Ashland consists of 150 acres and 57 buildings, so it is a small subdivision. It was built by Kelly, C. Lewis, Home Builders Inc. Homes were built in the period of 1925 to 1949.

Bungalow, Craftsman, Mission Revival, Spanish Revival and Tudor Revival tend to be the predominant architectural styles but there is at lease one Art Deco and a few transitional ranches.

Houses are smaller with attractive landscaping, front porches. The small narrow, but deep lots create a very warm friendly atmosphere where residents can easily exchange a conversation.
